Job Description

Due to growth and expansion, we are seeking a talented commercial lawyer to take on a key role in Quotient’s Legal Team supporting the business in the UK and USA as Director, Legal Affairs.

We embrace flexibility and are open to candidates who wish to work in either our Nottingham or Alnwick offices, or remotely with a minimum of 1 day per week in the office once COVID restrictions ease.

Key Responsibilities:

Reviewing complex contractual agreements, identifying legal issues and best-case solutions with minimal supervision.

Lead negotiations on contractual issues with third parties in a confident and persuasive manner.

Act as company specialist on Legal issues.

Advise management on disputes, litigation and complex issues.

Participate in strategic projects and workstreams across multiple sites.

Design and deliver engaging training in a confident and competent manner.

Reviews sponsor insurance for clinical trials against regulatory guidelines.

Administration - ensuring that appropriate procedures are followed and undertake MSA and SOP reviews and update templates as required.

Assist the Senior Director, Legal Affairs as required with data protection and other legal related activities and queries.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be legally qualified and have at least 5 years post qualification experience in commercial law, some of which will have been gained in-house. The ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic working environment is key to the success of the Director.

This position would suit someone confident to engage with and advise stakeholders at all levels, as well as deliver training on legal and compliance topics.

The ideal candidate will have:

5 years post qualification experience in commercial law.

Experience of working in an in-house legal department.

Experience negotiating research contracts.

Good computer skills. 

Knowledge and awareness of intellectual property, confidentiality and data protection principles.

An understanding of pharmaceutical or other regulated industry gained in-house or in private practice would be advantageous but not essential.

Familiarity with commercial insurances.
