Prestigious Royal Society honour for Bristol academic

Professor Varinder Aggarwal has been awarded the prestigious Davy Medal by the Royal Society. Professor Aggarwal is a member of our Scientific Advisory Board and currently holds the Alfred Capper Pass Chair of Chemistry at the University of Bristol. He has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to the field of synthetic organic chemistry, particularly the development of reagents that enable carbon chains to be ‘grown’ one atom at a time. This precision technique has been successfully applied to the synthesis of biologically active molecules with anticancer and antibacterial properties. You can find out more about the award here
