Dr Stephen Byard receives Award for Service
Morpeth’s Dr Stephen Byard has received The Royal Society of Chemistry Award for Service for his voluntary efforts over the past year.
Dr Stephen Byard, an organic chemist at Arcinova, was nominated by his peers for the award for outstanding service to the Royal Society of Chemistry Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Discussion Group.
Receiving the award, Dr Byard said: “Being an active member of the RSC NMR Interest Group for the last 15 years has been an absolute pleasure. It has allowed me to meaningfully participate in many great scientific events, engage with scientists from around the world and given me the opportunity to work directly with different teams in the Royal Society of Chemistry. To be the recipient of this award is really the icing on the cake and I am extremely grateful to the RSC for making it all possible.”
As well as being named winner of the award, Dr Byard also receives a medal.

The Royal Society of Chemistry’s Awards for Service winners are nominated by their peers for outstanding long-term non-academic contribution to the chemical sciences. This award recognises members who have volunteered in many different ways for a significant length of time.
