New additions to the Arcinova Bioanalysis team
We’ve bolstered our bioanalysis team in response to increased demand for the specialist services we offer.
We’ve appointed Connor Walker and Paige Bellis as bioanalysts as part of our on-going recruitment drive.
Connor and Paige will be supporting the bioanalysis team on the delivery of a range of services including Chromatographic Services (LC-MS), Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Accurate Mass Spectrometry, In Vitro Assays and Bespoke Biochemical Assays and Metabolite Identification Studies.
The two new recruits are recent graduates of Northumbria University, where they studied Biomedical Sciences. Connor’s experience includes a placement at Institute of Genetic Medicine at the International Centre for Life in Newcastle, where he worked as a trainee biomedical scientist. Paige spent time as a laboratory technician at analytical laboratory Derwentside Environmental Testing Services before joining us. The pair join three new bioanalysts – Polly Wight, Liam Burns and Jenny Baker – who joined us in 2017 as part of the expansion of the bioanalysis team.
Commenting on her new role, Paige Bellis, who is from Hebburn, South Tyneside, said: “I’d always wanted to work in the pharmaceutical sector: Arcinova offered a brilliant opportunity to do this. It’s a really welcoming, friendly environment here and I’m looking forward to developing my skills and supporting the bioanalysis team on some really exciting projects.”
Connor Walker, who is originally from Northumberland added: “I’ve seen the growth of Arcinova over the last two years and it seemed like exactly the right place in which to progress my career. To have a company of this size and capabilities in the heart of Northumberland is fantastic.”
Stuart McDougall, Bioanalysis Leader at Arcinova, said: “The growth of our bioanalytical services is continuing at a rapid rate, in part due to large pharmaceutical companies outsourcing specialist services such as ICP-MS and GC-MS. By recruiting Connor and Paige, we’re both strengthening our current team and building for our future – and we’re delighted to be welcoming them on board at what is an exciting time for Arcinova.”
Ian Shott, Managing Director, commented: “We’re proud to be able to offer opportunities for talented graduates here in North East England – and to help them further their careers as scientists. I’m sure that Paige and Connor have a very bright future here at Arcinova, a place from which they can support the work of pharmaceutical and biotech firms across the globe – and make a real impact.”
